Let’s go back to the mid-1980s. The owners of an American-style restaurant in London decided to launch a new product called Baby Back Ribs. A hugely popular item on menus in the US, the ribs soon proved a big hit in London too. As demand grew and new rib variants were launched, the owners had their lightbulb moment: to create an authentic Mexican and American food service business aimed at restaurants and caterers.
The result was Funnybones Foodservice, named from the fact that restaurant-goers would refer to the Baby Back Ribs as ‘those funny little bones’. Success was quick to follow and the rest, as they say, is history.
Over our 30 plus years, we’ve gone from strength to strength. Today, we are proud to be a market leader and continue to be the leading importer and distributor of innovative, multi-temperature Mexican and American foods in the UK food and catering sectors. Now part of the GraceKennedy Group, Funnybones isn’t just about ribs anymore. As a result of exciting new ethnic and global influences, we’ve expanded to create an extensive portfolio of quality branded products to suit all tastes and styles.
